THE SMSC NANCY GREENE PROGRAM

forms the foundation for lifelong enjoyment of the great sport of alpine skiing.  This program is focused on fun and fundamentals of skiing development. Consistent with Nancy Greene’s philosophy the emphasis is given on a fair play and group competition. As kids progress, the focus is given on a technical skiing and introduction to racing.

  • Regular Season: 9:30 am to 3:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays from early January to mid-March. Parents are responsible for their athletes during the 45-minute lunch break

2024 CHRISTMAS CAMP – Dates TBD

This 3 day program offers kids the opportunity to get a feel for skiing with Sasquatch Mtn Ski Club in groups of similar age and ability. The program is designed to try different terrain in fun and encouraging environment and focus on skiing fundamentals. Kids join the other returning club members for three days and if they like the program, they can continue in the regular Nancy Greene program for an additional fee. “pending there is space in the program”

An athlete must be able to complete a basic turn with a confident stop. Athletes must also be able to independently load and unload a chairlift. If they can’t load the chairlift on their own a parent/guardian must accompany them.

Apex Training Camp (invitation only)

2nd year U12 and up will receive an invite to attend our annual Apex training camp normally held in early December. If you have not received an invite by early November please contact the registrar for more information at: registrar@sasquatchmtnskiclub.com

 U12 RACING PROGRAM

continues to promote a love of skiing and ski racing through the all-terrain skiing in fun environment while introducing ski racing technique and tactics. Training includes all-mountain skiing, drills, and gate training. At this level, the skier will discover and develop individual skiing and racing styles while continuing to refine their technical skills. The competitions of the U12 group consist of at home events and at ski resorts in southern BC. The fundamentals of Giant Slalom and Slalom are the focus throughout the season and are part of the fun for the U12’s racing program.

  • Dryland Training: September to end of November at alternating locations to improve physical fitness in preparation for the ski season. This program is designed to help improve on skills needed in ski racing.
  • Optional Pre-Season Camp at Apex Mountain Resort at additional cost
  • Christmas Camp: Date TBD
  • Regular Season: mid-December to mid-March from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm
  • Optional May camps at additional cost

U14 PROGRAM

is focused on mastering fundamental skiing skills, while introducing athletes to more specific ski racing techniques.  This program is for kids that love to ski and race. The program is provided in a dynamic team environment and is designed to inspire, challenge and motivate young athletes to get the most out of their training. A stronger commitment to the sport by the athlete is part of the U14’s growth.  Athletes learn age appropriate slalom, giant slalom and speed technical skills to enhance their racing and skiing skill.

U16 PROGRAM

is designed to inspire and challenge racers who love to compete to perform at the next level. This program continues to emphasize fundamental slalom and giant slalom techniques, utilizing creative drills in and out of the gates, while at the same time introducing racers to speed event (super giant slalom) training and racing. The athletes are encouraged to attend many races to test their skills against other Zone racers and at the Provincial level.

U19 PROGRAM:

Our U19 program is an extension of our U16 program, for skiers aged 16 to 18, who wish to continue training with SMSC without the commitment and cost associated with international FIS level.

FIS PROGRAM:

The FIS Program is specially tailored for the racers who are interested to compete on a FIS circuit. The base training schedule is the same as U14, U16 programs, additional training days are at an added cost.
