Our U12 Program continues to promote a love of skiing and ski racing through all-terrain skiing in a fun environment while introducing ski racing technique and tactics. Training includes all-mountain skiing, drills, and gate training. At this level, the skier will discover and develop individual skiing and racing styles while continuing to refine their technical skills. The competitions of the U12 group consist of at home events and at ski resorts in southern BC. The fundamentals of Giant Slalom and Slalom are the focus throughout the season and are part of the fun for the U12’s racing program.

Age group: Competitors aged 10–11 (as of December 31)

The U12 series transitions skiers from Nancy Green to Alpine by moving through the Learn to Train to the Train to Train stages of the AIM model, designed to give young racers an opportunity to develop their training, racing and skiing skills and progress according with their ability. Emphasis is placed on providing strong coaches so that these young racers receive a strong technical foundation from which to progress to higher levels.

The Snow Stars program – introduced in the Nancy Greene Ski League – is an excellent teaching tool for the U12 level, and clubs are encouraged to pursue the goal of having a high percentage of U12 skiers achieve Level 7.
